Speaking Practice for English Philology Students: Part Two is a continuation of the previous
book with the same title. It includes another 25 topics ranging from issues dealing with self-improvement and self-development, e.g. Dealing with Burnout, In Search of a Meaningful and Fulfilling Life to issues tackling social and political domains, e.g. The Dark Side of Politics, How Far Can Globalisation Go.
Each unit thoroughly analyses a particular topic. Speaking activities include detailed questions and problem-solving tasks. They encourage students to add their own ideas, comment on excerpts from articles and expand on the quotes on a discussed issue. In the final part, students are asked to prepare speeches, which gives them a chance to come up with closing remarks.
Vocabulary practice places emphasis on idioms, phrasal verbs and collocations. It teaches, activates and consolidates vocabulary necessary to discuss a particular topic, thus strengthening students’ confidence in expressing themselves.
