The call for a joint elaboration of research was well accepted by the scientists from the University of Zielona Góra and other academic centres in Poland as well as by the scholars representing some institutions of higher education abroad. The co-operation resulted in preparing the collective work being presented here. The articles provided by the authors are divided into five thematic blocks; each has its own editor. Although the subject matters of each block differ, all articles are closely related to the overall subject of political and legal doctrines and refer to the shape of constitutional law, the situation of national minorities in a state, the position of women in societies or the citizen–state administration relations. Due to universal character of the issued publication and the international team of authors, the editors decided to release it in the English language. Editors are planning to continue the undertaken cycle of thematic research in the future. Therefore, the present publication has been recognized as volume one.
