Opis
The present volume commemorates the 15th anniversary of English philology at the University of Zielona Góra, the origin of which can be traced back to the year 2006 when the Institute of Modern Languages was established. The papers included in this collection represent a number of different research approaches practiced by anglicists from the University of Zielona Góra.
The thematic axis that connects all the papers in the present volume is the English
language, and the diversified scholarly perspectives make the basis for setting the structure of this volume. The first part includes two papers which focus on the description of the English language. The second part consists of two papers which discuss matters related to the translation of English. The third part contains two papers which center on didactic issues pertaining to English in both global and Polish settings.
The text that opens the volume provides a descriptive account of a linguistic phenomenon present in the English language. In the paper titled Infinitive forms and the semantic field of ‘may’, Leszek Szymański discusses the influence of the bare and perfect infinitive main verb forms on the semantics of the modal auxiliary verb may.
