Opis
This monograph is addressed to both researchers and students interested in the use of computer simulation modelling and the analysis of processes in manufacturing companies; it is also addressed to business practitioners, consultants and experts who deal with the design of production systems and process modelling in these systems, on a daily basis. This publication contains a compendium of theoretical knowledge on modelling and the simulation of production processes, as well as practical examples of simulation experiments conducted, using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software and illustrating the research methodology proposed. The first chapter discusses theoretical issues in computer simulation as a research method. It presents the theory associated with modelling in systems and processes and discusses the various stages of preparation and implementation of a simulation experiment. The second chapter describes selected functions of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software. In the third chapter some of the processes implemented in manufacturing companies are described, together with the criteria for process efficiency. Examples of production and logistics processes carried out in various studies on discrete manufacturing processes are given. Examples of the preparation and implementation of simulation experiments are presented and results of the simulation of the processes disclosed are discussed.
